The #ToyotaTundra may live in the shadows of the big three from Detroit when it comes to sales of full-size trucks. But this latest 2024 #TundraPlatinum has all the specs to make people think twice about getting a Ford, Ram, or Chevy/GMC. Since the #Tundra was last redesigned in 2022, @toyotausa managed to sell a little over 104,000 units in 2022. This year, pending end of year sales numbers, #Toyota is on-track to sell about 150,000 Tundra’s in the states and roughly 25% of those sales are for the #iForceMax #Hybrid powertrain, which this #ToyotaTundraPlatinum pictured here in Lunar Rock, is equipped with the upgraded engine. For about $4,000, the #TundraHybrid adds a 48 HP electric motor sandwiched between the 3.4L twin-turbo V6 and 10-speed Aisin sourced AT. It pumps out a combined 437 HP and 583 lb-ft of torque, and for 2024, you can now get the Platinum trim with the #TRDOffRoad package and a factory 3” suspension lift, raising the ground clearance from a wimpy 8.5” all the way to nearly 12”. (This truck doesn’t have those options, sadly) With 4WD engaged and the transmission in sport mode, this truck is capable of a 5.9 secs sprint to 60 MPH and it’ll also tow just over 11,000 lbs and haul nearly 1,600 lbs of payload in the bed. Fuel economy for the #TundraHybrid checks in at 19/22 MPG and with the massive 32 gallon fuel tank, this truck will cruise on the highway with over 600 miles of range! Twice the range of those silly fully electric trucks. The interior of this Platinum trim gives off a more teutonic vibe with black leather and blue contrast stitching, that pairs nicely with the satin metallic accents. A large 14” touch screen is standard, along with a fully digital 12.3” instrument panel. All this tech, luxury, and capability don’t come cheap, and while base pricing for a Tundra SR starts at just under $40k, the hybrid powertrain will set you back at least $57k (starts at the Limited trim), while this truck pictured here comes to a grand total of $71,905. Expensive yes, but it still undercuts a comparably equipped F-150 Platinum by about $8,000.
