With 361,457 units sold in the USA in 2023, the latest #HondaCRV took home the silver trophy and finished in 2nd place in the sales race for the compact family SUV segment. @honda also says that over 54% of #CRV buyers decided to go with the excellent #Hybrid powertrain, which is standard on the #CRVSport, #CRVSportL, and this top trim #CRVSportTouring. It combines a 2.0L DOHC direct injection 4-cylinder with 2-electric motors, including a powerful traction motor that provides most of the propulsion to all-four wheels. #Honda also pairs it with an interesting direct drive transmission with a 2-stage lockup that functions as an eCVT. The result is a vehicle that drives almost like an electric car, with the gas engine functioning as a generator to quickly recharge the small 1.1 kWh Li-On battery pack. Floor the gas and it’ll imitate shifting, but the quickest 0-60 MPH time is achieved when you remove that and we got 7.1 secs, or a hair slower than its archival, the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. The EPA says you’ll get 40/34 MPG and we average around 32 in mostly highway cruising. This Urban Gray Pearl color is a new addition to the color palette and with the gloss black 19” wheels, it still makes for a handsome design. The interior is well put together with cushy seats, excellent build quality, and a pleasing design, but Honda is seriously behind in tech and premium features. This top Sport Touring trim still lacks expected touches like a pano sunroof, cooled front seats, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a 360 degree camera system. You can literally get all that in most of the CR-V’s rivals. Plus that 9” touch screen is still looking a bit small and while it has wireless phone integration, the Google software from the Civic and Accord are still absent. Pricing begins at $30,100, the #CRVHybrid will cost at least $34,650 for the Sport trim. Our fully loaded test car rang up at $42,905, which is about the same price as a RAV4 XSE Hybrid, Tucson Limited Hybrid, Sportage SX-Prestige Hybrid, and the upcoming Mazda CX-50 Hybrid.
