When you need a family SUV that can seat up to 7-people, but don’t want the bulk or pricey nature of a larger SUV, the midsize #KiaSorento has always been the perfect compromise. For 2024, @kiausa has given the latest #Sorento a significant refresh with a #Telluride inspired front end, which includes new full LED headlights, grille, bumper, wheels, and taillight signature. This new range topping #SorentoXPro trim brings more off-road capability with 17” black finished wheels on BFGoodrich A/T tires and up to 8.2” of ground clearance. Under the hood, the engines are unchanged and our test car has the more powerful 2.5L Turbo GDi 4-cylinder pumping out 281 HP and 311 lb-ft of torque. With AWD and an 8-speed DCT, we clocked a respectable 0-60 MPH sprint in 6.6 secs, or just a hair quicker than this car’s platform mate, the redesigned Hyundai Santa Fe we tested last month. Fuel economy is rated at 20/27 MPG and if you required better efficiency, you can still pick between a #SorentoHybrid or #SorentoPHEV. This color is a new option this year, called Road Rider Brown and it pairs nicely with the Olive brown full leather interior. The second row captains chairs limit seating capacity to 6-people, so if you’re looking for a bench seat, you’ll need to step down to either a Sorento LX or S trim which has a non-turbo 2.5L motor making only 191 HP. Base pricing begins at $31,990, or about $2k less than the base Santa Fe, however Hyundai doesn’t offer the cheaper non-turbo gas only engine anymore. Our fully loaded SX-Prestige X-Pro had an as-tested MSRP of $49,400, but if you are willing to give up some upscale touches, the mid-trim Sorento EX X-Line AWD can be had for about $43k, which is priced along the same lines as a smaller SUV like a CR-V, Sportage, or RAV4.
