We arrived back from our week away in Italy to find that @toyotausa has left us a 2024 #ToyotaHighlander in the sporty #XSE trim for the week to test. This #HighlanderXSE gets a unique front and rear fascia treatment and 20” black finished wheels to go along with a more sport tuned suspension and steering. Under the hood, this trim is only available with the 2.4L Turbo 4-cylinder pumping out 265 HP and 310 lb-ft of torque. It’s paired up with an 8-speed AT and puts the power to the ground via an AWD system with dynamic torque control. We clocked a 0-60 MPH sprint in just 7.0 secs flat and with this new 4-cylinder, the EPA says it should get 21/28 MPG, which is a 1 MPG improvement over the old V6. This Blueprint exterior color of our test car clashes a bit with the cockpit red/black two-tone Softex interior, while the only option this car has is the 11-speaker JBL sound system that also rolls in the larger 12.3” touch screen with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. The 2nd row captains chairs are standard, but if you need to actually carry adults in the 3rd, go for the #GrandHighlander. Pricing for the 2024 #Highlander now starts at just over $39k, but as tested, this XSE trim with AWD stickers for $48,585. For about $2k more, you could get a Grand Highlander, but for those of you who don’t need the extra space, this is still a great option.
