Over the past decade, we’ve had the opportunity to test out a new #Mazda3 almost every year and this week, @mazdausa has sent us a fresh from the factory 2024 #Mazda3hatchback in the top spec Premium Plus trim equipped with the 2.5L #SkyActivG Turbo 4-Cylinder pumping out 250 HP and 320 lb-ft of torque (those numbers are achieved using premium fuel). With standard AWD and a 6-speed AT, we clocked a speedy 0-60 MPH in just 5.8 secs, which means this lukewarm hatch can keep pace with the latest VW GTI in a straight line! The downside is less than stellar MPG ratings of 23/31 and with a small 12.7 gallon fuel tank, range will be less than 300 miles in the real world. For 2024, the #Mazda 3 gets a larger 10.25” #MazdaConnect head unit with [finally] wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto! This display is also now a touch screen [only during phone mirroring] and can be touched even when the car is moving. Pricing begins at just under $26k for the #Mazda3Hatch, but this fully loaded test car painted in Polymetal Gray stickers for an eye-popping $38,265. About $3k cheaper than a fully loaded GTI Autobahn, but easily $5-7k more than a fully loaded Civic Sport Touring Hatch or Impreza RS.
